Sam's Anything But Square!

Anything but Square!

Today Sam is going to guide us through her 'Anything But Square' project with a step by step tutorial. What a great idea! Thanks Sam.

Materials Needed:
SplodgeAway Gate Mask
SplodgeAway Swirl Mask
Clarity Stamp
Ranger Distress Ink - Evergreen Bough
Dylusions Ink Spray - Vibrant Turquoise
 8"x8" Card Stock
Grand Nestabilities Die
Flowers of your choice
Metal wording or a self made Tag?
Peg to make card fastening

I would just like to thank Annette Lee for teaching me the Technique of the "dressed" lady at one of her classes.

Step 1. Stencil the mask onto the insert card.

Step 2. Fold an 8"x8" Card into a gatefold.

Step 3. Emboss and colour the mask.

Step 4. Stamp and dress image as required.

Step 5. Mat, layer and embellish as required.
Step 6. Glue a peg on side of the gate so that when the card closes the peg can hold it together. I have used a flower to cover the peg.

End Result: Definately Not Square!

Kay's Winter Warmers

Winter Warmers, Plenty of Layers!

So we are still in Winter and hoping for Spring, its been a cold Winter so to warm us up we have Kay's Showcase card for 'Plenty of Layers'. I am sure you will agree this card gives us a warm feeling inside.  This card makes me wish I was sat with a hot bowl of soup and warm crusty bread with lashings of butter...a tuna sandwich will  :-)

Kay has kindly given you a step by step guide to making this card so why not treat yourself  to this mask and have a go??? It's a bargain price of £3.45 from the SplodgeAway Site.
Over to you Kay:

My view on this weeks theme lent towards warm colours and lots of layers. To make this card I used:

SplodgeAway Easy Ink Card
SplodgeAway Lattice Mask
Grand Nestabilities Labels 4
Spellbinders Edgeabilities
Molly Bloom Stamp
Dimension Stamp
Paper self adhesive lace
White pen
Adirondack Inks in Mountain Rose, Terra cotta and Cranberry
Promarker pens
Memento Black Ink Pad
Pinflair glue and Art Glitter glue

To start I cut a piece of Easy Ink 7.5" square and embossed it using the mask. I also cut out the smallest two Grand Nestabilities labels and embossed the largest with the mask. I then distressed the base card with Mountain Rose . The embossed  label was then coloured with Terra Cotta and edged with Cranberry. Next i stamped the Molly bloom little girl with Momento onto the smallest label and coloured her in with a selection of Pro Markers. I then edged this with Cranberry.

The border was next to be cut out and then edged with Cranberry on the top and Terra Cotta on the bottom. I then stuck the self adhesive lace along near the top of border.

The flower stamp was then made by stamping the two smallest flower heads and two leaves in black momento. I then cut out and coloured with shades of peach and green. used the white pen to fill in the dots. When it was dry I shaped with my fingers and glued together with pinflair glue .
All of the pieces are now ready to assemble onto base layer and I think this is self explanitory if you look and the card. The only thin left is the buttons which I glued on last with pinflair.

I hope you enjoyed this project. I have to say I really enjoyed making this one.

Just a quick update,

Firstly I would like to say sorry for the Blog not being updated.  As some of you are aware Susan went into labor early.  There has also been many complications, but in the end everything has worked out and Baby Holy is strong and healthy other than a couple of battle scars and poorly arm.

Just before Susan was admitted to hospital I was working on a few StenSkape tutorial videos which Ric has very kindly edited.  These will be posted on the blog and website ASAP along with the StenSkape postings.  The design team has been working very hard its just a shame I have not got them up as of yet.

SplodgeAway will be attending the Ross Paper Craft Show in Eston on Sunday and I will be there demoing.  I hope to see you all there.  Baby Holly may even make an appearance.

Thanks you to the people who have applied to become a DT member the work submitted has been AWESOME!  This call is still going on however we have been having a few technical problems with the email address.  Please send all DT application to   As soon as I get myself back to work I will contact each and every one of you to give you feedback.

I  hope this has brought you up to date a little, I am sorry for the lack of communication, if you are following us on Facebook, no doubt you will be aware of the situation.  Thanks to everyone for all of their continuing support.  I really appreciate everyone and I will be back in action very soon.

Keep Splodging......  Tom :)
