Ingredients

SplodgeAway mask /mat / easy ink card

Black card

Copper mirricard

Watercolour paper

8” x 8” white card blank

Distress inks

Chalks

Cheap hairspray

Stamp from papermania

Most of the ingredients are available from Suzicraft.

Recipe

Cut black card to 19cm x19cm and attach to the card blank. Run your easy ink card and the mask through grand calibur or similar to emboss the pattern. Slightly offset the mask and use cotton wool to apply the chalks through the mask (this adds extra texture when offset) Mix the chalk colours and blend together – I used typical Mediterranean type colours. Spray with a few coats of cheap hairspray to fix. Cut this to 18cm x 18 cmand fix to card blank.

Stamp image onto watercolour paper and, using your Splodgeaway mat as a palette, lay out your distress inks onto it and use to watercolour your image. Add water to the leftover ink and mop up with 2 pieces of seam binding. Scrunch it up and leave to dry then  with both pieces together tie a loose bow.

Mat your finished, dry image onto copper mirricard and then onto a black card panel as shown. Glue a piece of black lace across the middle of your card and attach the image panel as shown. Add liquid pearls in bisque to the bottom and the bow to the top.

Stamp the sentiment, cut out with scissors, mat onto black card and adhere to your card with foam pads. Add black liquid pearls to the corners. 

I really think the chalked background ‘makes’ this card, giving it a real Mediterranean feel.......   A bit like terracotta tiles!
