By The Yard @'ARM'

Well l this is the final week o f our challenge, which I have enjoyed taking part in.

For those people who may be new to the site, each week we were given a different word or phrase which was to represent a letter in SPLODGEAWAY.

This week is Y – By the yard

Project By Rosie

Material or backyard sprang to mind even a yard of ale but I had not got a stamp for the yard of ale glass, but I fancied making a male card for a change, so for the first time I looked up the word and one of the meanings was YARD - a long horizontal spar tapered at the end and used to support and spread a square sail or lateen. So here is my interpretation using some stamps and techniques I learned at one of Maria Simms Classes. Thanks Maria.

Sailing Ship

What I used

8"x8" White Card

Elegance card

Grey, Dark Blue, and Light Blue card for layering

Creative Expressions stamps- Nautical Journey, Weigh Anchor

Distress Inkpads – Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire

Versa mark Inkpad

What I did

I cut a piece of Elegance Card to 4"x3", and then cut out my matting and layering card alternating the colours, I used ¼"as my border. I paper pricked a border around the edge of the dark blue card.

Next I stamped the Ship onto the Elegance Card using Chipped Sapphire and left it to dry.

Using my splodge away mat blending Tool and Faded Jeans Distress ink to colour the base card and around the edge of the ship image, then dried them with my Heat Tool.

I stamped various images over the base card using the inkpad and again dried with my Heat Tool.

Next I stamped a few images using the Versa mark pad and then dusted over with Cosmic Shimmer Powder.

Finally I assembled the layers of the card. I decided not to put a sentiment on the front of the card as I felt it detracted from the overall effect.
