Sliding Tag Christmas Card

I wanted to make an aperture card that was a little different and this is what I came up with:

Ingredients

SplodgeAway snowflakes mask

A4 Pale blue pearlised card

Crafty Individuals Christmas stamp

Silver stickles

Silver liquid pearls

Small length wide silver ribbon

Scrap silver mirricard

Blue eyelet

Cutting Die of your choice to cut the aperture

All supplies are available from Suzicraft

Recipe

Although this card is easy to make it’s quite difficult to explain so I’ve drawn a template for you to use. Just bear with me and work through the recipe step by step!

It’s not perfect but you can get all the measurements from it!

First of all cut 2cm off the top edge and discard this. Next score your card at 9cm and then at 18 cm from left short edge. Measure 1.5 cm from 2nd scoreline and cut. This part will make your envelope. Score 2cm from short edge and cut along the score line on right hand side panel ( shown on bottom left of the template)Snip off the corners of the remaining flap so it will lay flat once glued in place. Snip off the corners of the long flap the same. Use a circle punch to cut out a half circle from the first panel as shown.

Use a cutting die to cut an aperture in the centre of the panel that has the half circle cut from it. (the front). Score 2 lines under and 2 lines above the aperture horizontally across the front with the raised side on the front of the card for decoration (see photo)

Use a bone folder to achieve sharp folds. Fold both tabs and centre fold and use wet glue or tape to glue together, making a tall thin envelope.

Cut the remaining piece of card so that it’s 8cm wide. Slide it into the envelope and cut it level with the top of the envelope. Lightly mark the aperture on the tag with pencil and remove from envelope.

Ink the stamp and stamp it onto the tag, using the pencil marks to position it correctly. Stamp the inner sentiment above or below(or both lol ) the aperture. Punch a hole in the centre top, set an eyelet in it and thread the ribbon through. Tie in a single knot and arrange ribbon as desired.

Position the snowflake mask onto bottom of envelope, below the embossed lines. Squeeze some stickles onto some scrap paper and use a credit card to ‘drag’ it across the mask. Repeat until all the snowflakes on that section are filled. Carefully remove the mask, clean it and repeat on the top section. NB. This will take quite some time to dry so be careful not to smudge it!

Stamp a sentiment onto a scrap of blue card, cut out and layer onto silver mirricard. Place this in the centre of the bottom embossed double line, using foam pads to add dimension.

Finish your card by creating a line of pearls between both sets of embossed lines. Leave to dry!

Once your card is all dry and safe to touch slide the tag into the envelope.

I hope you have a go. Don’t forget it doesn’t have to be a Christmas card.....it’s suitable for all occasions!! Have fun and thanks for looking. Hugz, Jayne xxx
