Zoe has created an 8"x10" canvas with SplodgeAway Masks and texture paste. The sentiment is stamped onto tissue and attached with beeswax!

 

                            Zoe has also created a tag using the floral boarder and Leaf it mask!

Carol's Jigsaw Piece!

Good Morning Splodgers,

It's all go this week in the world of SplodgeAway....

Tuesday Tom and Hazel return to our screens on Create and Craft at 2pm and 6pm.

Today Carol is showcasing her 'piece' of alterered work using a SplodgeAway Mask. I must say I am impressed! What a great idea, everytime I look at this something else catches my eye.



Here is a piece I made using the SplodgeAway JigSaw Pieces mask. Yes it is an altered jigsaw piece. I loved playing with this to create the backgrounds etc and it really lends itself to so many uses. Love too, how all the pieces will link with each other in different ways. Here I have used it for background, dress pattern and also to highlight areas.

I began by peeling off the picture from this jumbo sized JigSaw piece and coating it with several layers of Fresco Finish paints, in shades of green and yellow. The mask was then used with aged Mahogany Distress inks to create the background. On top of this I adhered an old paper pattern piece. As I wanted everything too look somewhat aged I went over again with a wash of white to tone down the navy blue writing of the pattern sheet. The stamp used is from B-Line, which I coloured in Prisma colour pencils, again adding a wash for an aged look.

I re-stamped the image and used the mask as a stencil to draw three other jig-saw pieces. These I did not colour, but left looking sepia. ( I do hope this shows in the picture). I triple embossed these three pieces and attached them over the coloured image, matching up as I needed.

I cut a dress-form from a stencil and used the same colours and the mask to make the pattern on this. All that was left to do was to add the embellishments....some lace, stamped cotton reels and cotton, buttons and pins. A small jig saw piece dangle was the last addition with a tiny thimble.

Claire's Altered Mirror.

Good Morning Spodgers,

How are you today?

Have you got a reminder to sit down on Tuesday afternoon with nice cup of tea and watch Tom and Hazel on Create and Craft at 2pm and 6pm. They will be some fantastic new products not to be missed.

This week is 'Anything But a Card' Week. We are showcasing the masks this week with projects other than cards. This shows the versatility of the masks, we have already had a beautiful wall hanging and today a stunning mirror. Claire must have been very busy creating this but I'm sure she also had lots of fun.

Anything but a card. I've altered a cheap mirror using lots of different acrylic paints, Maimeri light modelling paste applied through the Complex Frame mask. Although this is an 8x8 mask I used bits of the mask as I worked around the mirror. Once the modelling paste was dry I applied Flitter glu and gilding flakes. I've added some radio valves that i found in the shed and ideaology bits and bobs as embellishments.

Angela's Anything But a Card!

Good Morning Splodgy Splodgers,

How are you today? I can't believe the weather has changed so much. All I can think of is my plants are being watered.

Don't forget Tom and Hazel will be appearing on Create and Craft again on Tuesday 2nd July at 2pm and 6pm.

Today is the start of the SplodgeAway 'Anything but a Card' week. Thank you to Sam for coming up with some great ideas for the weekly blog projects. SplodgeAway Masks are very versatile and the DT team have been busy this week with making projects that are not cards.

Angela has produced this fabulous Bird Wall Hanging. I love this hanging and it could so easily be changed into a baby mobile, various house decorations, etc.



Angela has used the SplodgeAway 6"x6" Fancy Lattice Mask to make this fantastic hanging. I love it!

How are you all today? I hope you had a lovely weekend even with the rain. I do apologise for the late post, this weekend has been rather hectic so I forgot about the blog :-(

Exciting News.

As most of you are aware SplodgeAway is currently being run from the Suzicraft Shop but with bigger orders and exciting prospects on the horizon SplodgeAway is moving out after the next Create and Craft Show into their own unit so we are all very excited :-)

Last of our DT's 'Favourite Mask' today and Claire has been kind enough to share her mask with us.

Claire has chosen the SplodgeAway 'Bountiful Flourish' Mask.

I used a piece of the Easy Ink card and the Bountiful Flourish mask to create my card.  I placed the mask on the easy ink and used pumice stone distress ink all over the card - moving the mask around as I went to create lots of flourishes.  I then repeated this process using crushed olive distress ink.  I distressed the edges of the card with pumice stone distress ink and then matted onto silver.  I created the sentiment panel by die cutting the easy ink card, stamped the sentiment, and then distressed the edges using the crushed olive distress ink.  This was matted onto die cut silver card and mounted onto the card front with foam pads.

Today Jayne is showcasing her 'Favourite SplodgeAway Mask'.

Jayne has chosen the 8"x8" Swirly Lattice Mask.



My favourite mask? Now that’s a hard one because each time a new mask comes out that’s my new favourite!  However this swirl mask is one of my all time favourites that I use time and time again. It’s so versatile and I love the way that the swirls draw your eyes to the centre, creating the perfect place to set your image.

I used the mask with distress inks in dried marigold, wild honey and tea dye . The image was a digi stamp which I part coloured and part tangled!  Thanx for looking. Hugz, Jayne xxxxx

Yvonne's Favourite Mask

Today Yvonne has chosen her favourite SplodgeAway Mask which is the 'Flower Creator 3'. This is a very versatile mask and is perfect for inking, embossing, spraying and so much more...

Well.............. the biggest challenge with this posting is how on earth do you choose your 
favourite mask???  Impossible.
For the Tag I made a background using my Gelli Plate and acrylic paints.  Out of the Gelli prints
 I cut a tag, 3 flowers (layered from the different sized flowers in the mask) and my wording
 "Every day holds the possibility of a Miracle". I blended Distress Ink, Black Soot, around the 
edge of the tag and around the words to add the finishing touches.

I then ran the mask and the tag through the Grand Caliber and touched the embossed
 flowers with gilding wax to add interest to the Tag. All then assembled with a ribbon tie in the
 top and the project was finished. Hope you like it.So I narrowed it down and down and was left with the flower maker mask.  I decided to
 make a Tag and to also show you a birthday card I made for my daughter which was inspired by
 the lovely Maria Simms also using this mask.

Today Claire is showcasing her 'Favourite SplodgeAway Mask'
Claire has chosen the SplodgeAway 6"x6"Fancier Lattice. This is a stunning mask very delicate and pretty.

Favourite mask - I've used Fancier Lattice, although asking me to choose a favourite mask is like asking me to choose a favourite child (maybe worse as i've only got one child lol). I've chosen this mask as it makes such gorgeous delicate backgrounds and you can create so many pretty effects with it. For this card I've inked the mask with seedless preserves distress ink using my SplodgeAway Mat and brayer and then embossed it with my Grand Calibur.

Carol's Chosen her favourite mask have you?

Good Morning All,

I hope you are all well this morning. The weather seems to be nice and sunny but I haven't been outside yet so it could be a lie! I hope wherever you are the weather is doing what you want it to do.

Today we are carrying on the theme with 'My Favourite SplodgeAway Mask' and Carol has been kind enough to showcase her fab cards.

Carol has chose 'Card King' as her favourite mask, this 6"x6" Mask is perfect for masking, embossing, stencilling, spraying and much more and for a bargain price of £3.45 why not buy yourself one.

Both of these makes have been created using the 'Card King' mask. I love this mask and have used it often in so many different ways. It's a great Man Mask!! Why are men so difficult to make cards for? I really like the fact that this mask lends itself not only to being used in its entirety, but also can easily be lined up and used for making corners, borders etc. in 1,2,3, or four different widths. It is also an easy mask to use with Distress inks, not too many fiddly bits and also easy to use as a stencil.....both of these have been used in these makes. It's not just for the males though as you can see from the tag, it's great for ladies too. This is a super mask which lends itself to both modern and vintage themes too.

The first make is a large tag, I coloured in three shades of Distress inks and blended with the SplodgeAway Mat. I then masked of areas and blended through the mask in Aged mahogany, other areas I used Versamark through the mask. OOHH. That Aged Mahogany was way too dark so covered the entire mask with a  water Snowflake Paint, to tone it down. Had forgotten about the Versamark but revelation!!! it highlighted it by somehow attaching itself to the underneath distress ink!! Love the effect it made. I made four tiny hearts with cookie cutters using the meltpot. In my stash of wonders found some tiny playing cards, which I also distressed. lastly my Queen of Hearts. I do have a thing about Marie Antoinette! I made this up a little smaller than an A.T.C. and used found images and plaque from Lawrence Lewellyn Bowen, which I love. All was attached as shown. Feminine and vintage.

My second is a card more modern, much brighter and for the man this time!! I used the mask as a stencil and drew around the areas to make a border, This was then coloured using Promarkers. This time I utilized a small pack of tissues for the playing cards as they needed to be small. I often collect these as I know I will need them at sometime for crafting. LOL !! I used one layer of the tissue and stuck the images on to card and then cut them out, as with the central border. Mounted these onto foam pads...higher at the top so they appear more as if they are being held. The 4 tiny charms I bought just a few days ago half price and they fitted the theme of the card.

So there is my favourite mask. Hope you enjoyed seeing what I made with it.

A New Week :-)

I hope you have had a lovely weekend and a nice week planned. I was checking the stats of the blog last night and I can't believe we have followers from China, Switzerland, Germany and more....wow...DT we may have to go bi-lingual. Thank you all of our followers no matter where you are.

Today Zoe is showing her amazing projects using her favourite mask which is the 6" x 6" Fancy Lattice Mask. This kit was originally sold in a sell out kit on Create and Craft but Tom split the kit for the website so you didn't have to buy them all. I must admit this is one of my favourites aswell.

'Oh my word! How could I possibly pick a fave mask??? They are all fab, the only way 
I could break it down was to choose which I use the most, not easy either but got down
 to two, then innie meanie miny mo! 

So I chose the "Fancy Lattice", I love it and use it quite a lot! Its very versatile!'

Here are 3 samples:

The first one looks quite funky I think? I used the mask one way then turned and

used it the other way!

The second one I would describe as a Classic design, very generic!

And my third I think is Elegant and quite classy, I just embossed it! It embossed

 beautifully!

Kay's Splodge Project

 HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all those Fathers and Grandad's out there.

Today is the last day of the 'SplodgeAway Mat' Week. I hope the team have given you some inspiration to do something different with your mat. Today Kay is going to showcase her lovely bright cheerful card.

Well what can I say!

Before my SplodgeAway Mat days although I always wanted to do more stamping and inking my results didnt inspire me on to do more. From the day I got my mat that all changed. Now it is always on my work space ready to use and IS used daily. I use it not only to blend inks but also to create effects as a paint pallet etc. It is very economical with inks so they go a lot further. No need to waste any as you can create backgrounds with what you dont use as I have demonstrated with my card.

The flower card was made using the new flower creator.

I started by making five flowers using a combination of shaded lilac and dust concord and pickled raspberry and then cutting them out. I kept all the colours on the SplodgeAway Mat and didnt clean off as I then spritzed with water and wiped a piece of easy ink around it. This created a lovely matching background and also saved me from wasting any ink. When dry I then blended in some of the leaves in peeld paint and pine needles. The flowers were then glued on, the background attached to some lilac pearl card and embellished with toning ribbon and gems.

SplodgeAway will be standing at the Ross PaperCrafts Show this Sunday 16th June at the Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield. Tom will be there demonstrating alongside all the new masks from the last Create and Craft Show.

Today Jayne is showcasing her beautiful card using the SplodgeAway Mat. Jayne has used the SplodgeAway Mat to not only blend the card but to watercolour the stamped image.

Watercolouring with the SplodgeAway Mat is really easy. All you need is your mat, a wet paintbrush and some distress inks. You simply add a small amount of ink onto the mat and pick it up with your paintbrush.

 Jayne has used the SplodgeAway Abstraktz kit to create the background of her image.

Angela's been Brayering and Blending with the SplodgeAway Mat.

Good Morning Splodgers,

It's nearly the weekend...do you have anything nice planned? I hope the weather is as nice this weekend as it was yesterday. Whatever you are doing try and check out the blog as we have some very exciting projects each day and lots of new themes using SplodgeAway Products.

Can you believe that SplodgeAway started because Tom and I were made redundant 6 years ago? Its a very long story and I amy just tell you tomorrow....lots of ups and downs and now the only way is up thanks to all of you amazing customers. As promised I said I would tell you all about the SplodgeAway/Suzicraft Story, its quite long so bare with me.....

In 2007 Tom and I were made redundant from both our jobs as a Nursery Nurse and Council Officer within a month of each other. After lots of tears and tantrums we took a look at we had and what we could do, we had an old red sizzix pull down machine and lots of card. We started making little kits and selling them at a local craft fair until we had enough money to buy a gazebo and started doing Stockton and Catterick Market. When we saved more money we bought more stock, tables, covers and more. One bad windy day the gazebo snapped and we lost 50% of our stock...all flying down the high street! The only way to carry on was to buy a market stall but it would not fit in our little black punto so we made the hard decision of selling the car :-( and buying an old clapped out van, market stall and some more stock. After a few years the business was going from strength to strength, we did have bad patches where Tom had to get a job as a bus driver, bad weather stopped us standing but we tried keeping positive. Tom started his own stall next to the craft one doing air brush tattoos and he decided that he could design and make his own stencils. They were such a success and people were constantly asking for custom made stencils. In 2011 we finally made the plunge and opened the Suzicraft Shop. Tom discovered that the stencils he designed would be perfect for craft masks and one day he accidenly spilt some water on the material, the water stayed on it without absorbing......SplodgeAway was born!!

So 3 days into our week and we have seen our DT team blend with the mat, brayer with the mat to create backgrounds and today Claire is going to teach you how to use your brayer and SplodgeAway Mat to create reflections with your stamps.

When I first saw the SplodgeAway Mat I tried to resist, after all did I really need another craft mat? I gave in when I saw Barbara Gray demoing brayer techniques with the SplodgeAway Mat and I am so pleased I did! It makes blending techniques with the ink blending tool a breeze and of course makes brayering so much easier (and saves loads of ink too). It is absolutely invaluable when it comes to creating reflections. Anyone who has tried to create a reflection using a brayer will tell you how difficult it is but using the SplodgeAway mat makes it such an easy and effective technique, even with lots of different stamps.

Yvonne's SplodgeAway Mat Technique

Good Evening Splodgers,

How are you are all? We have not long been home from our amazing holiday when I checked the blog and 2 scheduled posts had disappeared...arrghhh....sorry Yvonne..so I am doing it again and it will stay on until 12 midday tomorrow.

So today Yvonne is showcasing her card using the SplodgeAway Mat to brayer. Not long after the SplodgeAway Mat was released released the Queen of Brayering herself  realised that we could help save the rainforest using this mat :-)

  Until getting my SplodgeAway Mat, to be honest, I'd struggled with my brayering.

This piece of work would have been impossible for me to complete without my trusty SplodgeAway Mat.  I used Butterscotch Adirondack for the sky with Mountain Rose Adirondack coming in from the bottom.

Before obtaining my SplodgeAway Mat I struggled with lines on my work when brayering but suddenly all my problems were over!  No more wheelies, no more wasted copy paper and more importantly perfect blending.  I also waste no ink as I can go back to the mat time and again with my brayer picking up the ink which has been blushered in.  When my work is finished I spray a fine mist of water on to my SplodgeAway Mat and pick up the remaining ink on a spare piece of card to be used on a future project.

I've now also invested in an 8 x 8" mat to take to my local craft club so I'm never caught out!!

A New Week :-) SplodgeAway!

Good Morning Splodgers,

How are you all today? I hope you are all well and the weather is beautiful. As I am writing this I am hoping Cornwall has its sun shining for us aswell.

Today is the start of a new theme on the SplodgeAway Blog...we are actually focusing on where it all started...the SplodgeAway Mat!!

Last year the SplodgeAway Mat was released on Create and Craft and within minutes it had sold out and they had to even more! So you are all asking what is the fuss with this mat? Well Tom really needs to answer this and I am sure when we get back. The SplodgeAway Mat is an amazing mat and is perfect for ink blending. It is also good as so many other things which you see throughout the SplodgeAway Mat Week. It is available in 4 different sizes, 8x8, 12x12, A3 and the Demonstrator!!  All available on the website.

To kick the week off Zoe is going to share her blending technique using the SplodgeAway Mat....

I started by Splodging my ink onto my SplodgeAway Mat, I then blushered it all in 
using my blending tool, I wanted a heavy coverage on my tag so I used a lot of 
pressure, leaning slightly back on the tool using circular movements, I covered 
the rest of my tag with paper and rested my and on it so not to transfer oil 
from my hands onto my tag! 

Turning the tag round I began using the lighter colour starting at the edges and 
working inwards to join the colours, don't worry about the lines, as I blend 
together I may go over using both colours again just to get a seamless effect!
 Once achieved I spritz my mat with water and wiped clean with paper towel,
 please don't use baby wipes as the conditioners in them can clog the surface of 
the mat! But if you do by mistake you can use a bit of  nail polish remover or
 Adirondack blending solution on it to remove residue, then use water and paper 
towel to clean it off! 

Here's the blended tag, I then heat dried it with my heat tool, and used a dust
 buddy or talc on it, I stamped my tag using a gorgeous swirl stamp from Indigoblu
 using Perfect Medium ink, which is a slow drying sticky ink, then added
 Stampendous white fine detail Embossing powder, then heated using my heat tool
 to create a lovely raised and shiny effect!

Voila the finished tag! The sentiment is by Paperartsy!

Zoe's Easy Ink Review and EXCITING NEWS

I hope you are all having a great week.

I have some exciting news and I can't actually believe I forgot to announce this..whoopps..well a few months again Tom had a DT call and the response we had was overwhelming. Eventually Tom got around to look at the applicants and he couldn't choose anybody as everyone was so good. So he decided to invite several full member and 3 guest designers for a period of 3 months. Well the work these ladies have put in and produced has been to such an amazing standard we don't want to let them go so let me introduce to our 3 FULL members...yeahhhh...

Now back to the last day of our Easy Ink Card Stock Week and we have have the super talented Zoe giving us her thoughts....

I used a swirl frame mask with Mustard seed and Spiced marmalade DI and some sequin waste here and there with a bit of red, the stamp is Inkylicious which I heat embossed with Stampendous fine detail EP. I masked around the edges first with low tack tape on both cards.

This one I used Dusty concord and tattered rose with the Lattice mask and sequin waste. This was Creative expressions stamp which I coloured with glimmer gloss

At first I found the ink dragged a bit, but it didn't blob or get unsightly lines, it blended beautifully, I could feel it really taking in the ink, the ink stayed vibrant and true! I wanted strong colours and normally takes quite a while and quite a lot of ink to get that, but I found it built up quickly without too much effort! Very pleased with it.
